Implant question
December 15, 2005

Jeff asks: with new multifocal lens implants almost every month, which is the best to have?

Currently there are only 3 models available: 1) the Crystalens single zone lens that moves within the eye, good at distance and intermediate range (computer) but not great at near (reading); 2) the ReSTOR lens a multizonal lens, good at distance and near but weaker in the intermediate ranges; and 3) the ReZoom lens also a multifocal lens, maybe best at distance, good in the intermediate range but a bit weak at near. Therefore there really isnt a single best implant, but perhaps a combination, one in one eye and another in the other. It really depends on your activities and your personal needs. This is more easily discussed in a consultation. Visit the Our Lenses page under Technology on our website as I will try to keep it as up to date as I can. I believe all of these lenses have their own websites with more information. Check those out also. Hope this helps.
